UNDER 15 CUP 1st ROUND REPLAY
YOUGHAL 34 BALLINCOLLIG 18
Our under 15 took on Ballincollig in this first round replay at Frogmore on Thursday 24th March.The sides played a 11 pts apiece draw at Tanner Park the previous saturday.The visitors settled into the game quickly and had a succesful penalty kick after 7 mins of play.Youghal battled back after some good work from Finn Collier and Daniel Keane.
Jason Yellop scored the first Youghal Try in the corner.Things were now starting to go Youghals way with some good running both backs and forwards.This opened up play for centre Chris Morrison to score near the posts. Chris added the conversion points to give Youghal a 12pts to 3 pts lead.The vistors narrowed Youghals lead on the stroke of half time when their powerful forwards barged there way over Youghals line.The Youghal back line then got the ball and centre Andrew Joyce scored a fine solo Try after some good running from Adam Malone and Barry O Connell.Youghal were now taking control in all departments and scored further Tries from full back Mathew Farrell and Andrew Joyce while Adam Malone added 2 Convertions and a penalty to complete Youghals tally. Ballincollig to their credit never gave up and had 2 late Tries but Youghal held on to win 34 pts to
18 pts.Best for Youghal were Andrew Joyce,Chris Morrison,Ryan Coady and Mathew Farrell.While Jason Yellop
Todd Cronin,Finn Collier and Daniel Keane always tried hard in the forwards.Youghal now travel to Mitchelstown in the second round of the cup with the winners playing Crosshaven.
Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday

The final league game of the season for the First XV is scheduled this coming Sunday ay 2/30 pm, away to Newcastlewest. It is a game that the county Limerick side will want to win as they are still in the hunt for promotion. Youghal will want to bounce back after last weeks defeat at home to Bandon when they gave the visitors a big head start and then nearly reeled them back in after a much improved second half.
The Second XV have an away, Casey Cup fixture against Waterpark on Sunday at 12/30pm and the U 17's have a home fixture on Saturday against Ballincollig.

Both the First XV and the Second XV lost out last sunday. The Firsts made the long journey to Newport for a league fixture against a team who are scrapping for every point. They eventually went down on a 29 v 19 scoreline but did manage to continue their rich try scoring with 3 of their own. Two tries from Stephen Kelly and one by Conor Coleman with Keith McCarthy kicking two conversions made up the Youghal 19.
The Seconds lost out in the Mick Barry Cup Final by 14 v 5 to Old Christians at The Paddocks in Cobh. For them, it doesn't get any easier this week, with an away fixture in the J2 cup against Highfield at noon on Sunday. The Firsts have a league game against Bandon at 2pm on St. Patricks day at Frogmore. All support would be much appreciated.
