Congratulations to David O'Callaghan on his call up to the full Irish panel for training this week. Dave is one of 11 Munster players and just one of three newcomers included in Declan Kidney's squad that will assemble in Kildare for a two day camp at the weekend.
After 8 starts last season in the RaboDirect PRO12 and an addition to Munster's Heineken Cup squad enabling him to make his Euro debut as a replacement in the win over Nortampton Saints. This term he's been the starting 6 against Treviso and Ulster, delivering performances that have put him firmly in Kidney's sightline.

The First XV got the season off to a superb start by claiming an away win in the Munster Clubs Challange Shield against Newport on Sunday. Youghal travelled to Newport and defeated the Tipperary side 17-9. Jimmy Barron and Keith McCarthy scored tries for the East Cork side and McCarthy converted both and also added a penalty. Philip O’Brien replied with three penalties for the home side.

The season kicks off with a tough away fixture to Newport in the Munster Junior Challange Shield. After a couple of hard games against this opposition last season the Youghal First XV will have an appreciation of just what they need to do to take the honours against this very capable team.
