Sunday`s Well blitz 09.02.13:
Under 11`s team: Darragh Coleman, Ben Terry, Conor Kenefick, Darragh Kenefick, Jamie Fogarty, Ciara Fitzgerald, Sean Riordan, Ole Coleman, Ben Ingamells and James O`Shea.
Unfortunately we were very short of players for this blitz and had to "borrow" some players from our hosts Sundays Well.
Youghal 3 - Ballincollig 1
The first match saw us playing Ballincollig. Despite fielding a makeshift team, Youghal played some excellent rugby, the passing and running was first class with runners have back up when they had the chance to run. Despite being a relatively small side we managed to more than hold our own when it came to the rucking and mauling. An great entertaining match which Youghal thoroughly deserved the win.
Try scorers:Conor 2 and Sean
Youghal 0 - Sunday`s Well 4
Our second match came after a few minutes rest for the players. Unfortunately this match was a more physical, forward play dominated match and we only had a few chances to run the ball. At half time we were only trailing 1-0 and we still in contention, however playing on large pitch, and with no substitute to give players a break tiredness set in and Sunday`s Well managed to pull away in the second half. To their credit, despite having run themselves into the ground and falling behind in the score board , no one gave up and gave everything until the last whistle and only a couple of last ditch tackles prevented us from scoring a couple of late tries.
The players should be rightly proud of not only the way they performed by the effort they put in.
Carrick on Suir blitz 02/02/13:
Youghal U11/12`s squad: Aron Gardiner, AJ Brophy, Padraig Quilligan,Ole Coleman, Ben Ingamells, Mike Ahern, Darragh Coleman,Conor Kenefick, Conor O`Neill, Jordan Lupton, Lauraleigh Baker, Finn O`Brien, Oran Finn, Josh Sheridan, James O`Shea, Aron Creamer, Dean Coleman, Rory O`Brien
Youghal 4 - Carrick on Suir 1
Our first match of the day saw us playing the hosts. In a well contested match, Youghal
got the advantage of an early try and kept control of the match. However it did need an excellent defencive performance to keep Carrick to one score, on 3 occasion Carrick crossed the try line but couldn't ground the ball due to some great last ditch tackles from a resolute defence.
Try scorers: Josh, Padraig x 2 and Conor Kenefick.
Youghal 3 - Clonmel 1
The second match was a tough physical match in which each team played a different style of rugby. Clonmel had all the early possession, completely out rucking and mauling us, it took a couple of minutes before youghal even got a touch of the ball. Keeping a very good defencive line and making some telling tackles Youghal kept the Clonmel team confined largely to the middle of the field. When we did manage to secure some ball it was moved along the line to good effect with runners finding space and have enough support to keep the movement going.
Try scorers: Oran, Ole and Ben
